PRIDEOn Fridays, full time students of the CEC Middle College are required to attend PRIDE groups (Personal Responsibility In Developing Excellence) to encourage the relationship between students and PRIDE teachers. The main purpose of the PRIDE group is to create a long-term connection between a student and his/her PRIDE teacher so that the students can succeed in Middle College. In the group 15 – 17 students meet with the same PRIDE teacher or teachers. Because the same group meets over a long period of time, this is also the place to share or to bring up problems students are facing in an atmosphere of trust and openness; however, the PRIDE group is not a counseling group and will not substitute for counseling that may be needed. The PRIDE group exists in order to provide an important bridge between students and staff at Middle College, and we rely on it for many things over the course of the year. It is essential that everyone be committed to attending their group and making it work. It is an important part of everyone’s life here at the CEC Middle College of Denver!
